There's something truly special about creating handmade jewelry, especially when working with a variety of techniques such as knotting, macrame, and braiding.  Experimenting with different styles and patterns allows for endless creativity, blending textures and colors to create something both visually striking and personally meaningful.  Whether crafting a macrame bracelet, beaded mala necklace or using a technique to bond many layers of paper and cotton together with epoxy, compressed, hardened then shaped, the joy comes not just from the finished piece, but from the journey of making it by hand.

Kumihimo, which means 'the bringing together or gathering of threads', is a beautiful and ancient Japanese art of braiding that creates stunning patterns and textures.  At Gridley Arts, we bring this tradition to life in our handmade necklaces, using various materials such as satin cord, waxed jewelry cord or embroidery thread, combined with genuine gemstone beads, magnetic hematite beads, or delicate glass seed beads.  Depending on the design, we carefully braid each piece individually with 8, 12 or 16 cords, ensuring a strong yet elegant finish--a special blend of artistry, tradition, and quality craftsmanship.

Our Tree of Life pendants are lovingly handmade by shaping the wire frame and wrapping wire into a beautiful tree design.  We use gemstone beads or chips to create the branches and leaves, giving each piece a natural, organic feel.  We also craft elegant all-wire designs without gemstones for a more minimalist look.  A faux leather or satin cord is added to the pendants to make a ready to wear piece.
